A new indoor railroad museum under construction in Greeley, Colorado. It holds many artifacts including the last Colorado Southern wood caboose to operate and a 5500 square foot HO model train layout.

The museum is not yet open to the general public, although special paid tours can be arranged. More information is available on the museum's web site:
http://www.gfsm.org. An article on the OC&E appeared in the Northern Colorado Model Railroad Club's newsletter, the Dispatch:http://www.ncmrc.org/downloads/Trussell2004.pdf.

Bob > By April 2004 the last wood C&S caboose to see service was installed. This caboose was saved by Al Jackson of Loveland, CO and spent many years in his "north forty." Wires have been pulled for theatrical lighting spots in the ceiling.

Bob > Benchwork in place for the Lakeview turnback "blob" (as famous layout planner John Armstrong used to say.) Operator duck-unders were planned well in advance and forms set prior to pouring the concrete slab, as seen in the left center of the photo.
Bob > By May of 2004 bench work had just started.
Bob > The last wood Colorado & Southern caboose to see service was originally saved by Al Jackson of Loveland, Colorado.
Bob > Dave unknowingly plants ideas into our (museum volunteer) heads as he demonstrates a 19th century velocipede on the live rails inside the museum. Now (fall 2008) a box car sits just outside the rail door, and that car critically shortens the joy ride on museum property.
