This genuine EMD F3 traction motor load meter shows scale Amperes (1000 indicated is 10 DCC amps) for the NCE 10 amp DCC power booster serving Glenn Forge, International Paper, and the ruling double-track grade up to Ohio Bridge.
I enjoy repurposing electronic parts older than I am to serve us in new and unexpected ways. This style of Weston meter was widely used over many years in many applications, not just on railroads. Weston also sold them in beautifully-constructed oak boxes for use in laboratory analysis. In their day, they were the best except for a few high-end lab units with mirrored scales to minimize measurement error from parallax.
The external meter case could use a light cleaning with a stiff brush since it was installed in as-purchased condition from a seller at an online auction site.
Anyway, the F3 is my all-time favorite locomotive, closely followed by the "Cadillac" SD9.
